1. Who We Are

Brody is an indie project — an AI-powered SMS accountability buddy built by an individual developer. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how we handle it. We keep things simple and only collect what we actually need.

2. What We Collect

You give us directly:

• Your phone number (required to use Brody)
• The content of SMS messages you exchange with Brody
• A display name, if you choose to set one

We collect automatically:

• Basic usage data (pages visited, buttons clicked) via PostHog
• Device type and browser
• IP address and approximate location (country/region level only)

3. How We Use It

• To send and receive SMS messages through Brody
• To personalize check-ins based on your activity and goals
• To understand how people use the product so we can improve it
• To process payments if you subscribe to a paid plan
• To prevent abuse and keep the Service running

We do not sell your data. We do not use it for ad targeting.

4. Third-Party Services We Use

• Twilio — sends and receives SMS messages on our behalf. Your phone number is shared with Twilio to make this work.
• Groq — processes message content to generate AI responses. We may use anonymized conversation data to improve our Service over time.
• Stripe — handles payments. We never see or store your full card details — Stripe handles all of that directly.
• PostHog — anonymized product analytics to help us understand usage patterns.
• Vercel — hosts the website and API.
• Cloudflare — provides DNS, DDoS protection, and CDN services. Traffic may pass through Cloudflare's network.

5. Data Retention & Deletion

We keep your data as long as your account is active. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from Settings or by emailing textbrody@gmail.com. We'll process deletion requests within 30 days.

6. Security

We use standard security practices — encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) and encrypted storage. That said, no system is perfectly secure. If you suspect unauthorized access to your account, contact us immediately.

7. Your Rights

You can:

• Request a copy of your data
• Ask us to correct or delete your data
• Opt out of SMS messages by replying STOP at any time
• Delete your account from Settings

8. Children

Brody is not intended for anyone under 13. If you believe a child under 13 is using the Service, please let us know and we'll remove their data promptly.

9. Changes

We'll update this policy as the product evolves. The date at the top will always reflect the latest version. We'll try to give you a heads-up via SMS for any significant changes.
